Loch Measc Distillery in Tourmakeady (Tuar Mhic Éadaigh) is the kind of place whisky lovers dream about: charm, style, and a picture-postcard setting on the shores of Loch Measc. Production began in 2018, and the philosophy is refreshingly old-school, tiny batches, obsessive detail, flavour over volume. The result is a clean, characterful spirit with bright cereal sweetness, a lift of citrus, and a gentle, lingering spice that speaks of patience and craft. Hospitality matches the liquid. General manager Niamh Seoighe, who began on the admin side, now leads with authority and infectious enthusiasm, doubling as a superb tour guide who explains mash bills, cuts, and cask influence with crisp clarity. The team on the floor carry that same pride, turning a tour into a masterclass without ever feeling fussy. Come for the views; stay for the glass in your hand. This micro-distillery is small in scale, but the ambition tastes big.
