Kerry Writers Museum
Review
“Words are seeds that do more than blow around. They land in our hearts and not the ground.” Unknown.
The Kerry Writers’ Museum in Listowel, County Kerry provides an amazing opportunity to open the books, turn the pages, and learn all about the famous literary sons of Listowel. Known as the ‘Literary Capital of Ireland’, visitors are introduced to internationally known playwrights and authors, including John B. Keane, Bryan MacMahon and Maurice Walsh. Blending the past and the present beautifully, using audio visual presentations in the Landscapes Room, within the resplendent 19th Century Georgian residence next to Listowel Castle. Dive down into the magical dream worlds, faces, places and creative spaces of these extraordinary writers, told by Seanachai - the bearer of Irish folklore. The museum is also home to writers of the future, and regularly hosts lectures, traditional ‘rambling houses’, traditional music events and coffee mornings for charitable causes. Perhaps a visit to this splendid attraction will awaken the poet within you too!
