Review

Hestia House in Derry was initially selected as one of only a few accommodation providers to feature in our Derry City/ Londonderry chapter of this latest edition of the Top 100 Attractions on the Island of Ireland book, website, and app. Following a missed meeting with owner John McCartney at his other property, The Lawrence, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and after a promising phone call in which he confirmed participation I went ahead and wrote a positive review about both of his properties. However, sometime after this positive relationship took a very sinister turn. After artwork was completed for both of his properties and sent to both McCartney and his manager Jenny, they failed to respond to multiple follow-up emails. Only after legal action was threatened to recover the outstanding debt, did he reply, simply and shockingly stating that they were no longer interested. However, I did explain to him that all the work had been done and needed to be paid for, he rudely replied. So, regretfully it is in my professional opinion, Mr. McCartney has demonstrated a serious lack of professionalism, reliability, and courtesy. If you’re seeking trustworthy accommodation in Derry City and want your deposit or money to be safe and a reliable booking, I strongly advise you give both Hestia House and The Lawrence a very wide berth.
