Floors Castle
Floors Castle is not only a Duke’s family home, but also the heart of the diverse Roxburghe Estates in a beautiful part of the Scottish Borders. Just over an hour’s drive from Edinburgh and Newcastle, visit this stunning Castle and see for yourself the collection of fine art, porcelain, newly restored tapestries, grand rooms and superb views. We have woodland and riverside walks, formal and informal gardens and lots of lovely places to walk the dog, or to sit and watch the world go by. We are dog friendly! Floors Castle & Gardens is one of the most enchanting and flexible wedding venues in the Scottish Borders. Set in Roxburghe Estates, and sitting just on the outskirts of Kelso, our beautiful, established gardens provide the ideal space for a small intimate wedding ceremony or a large-scale marquee wedding party for creative couples who want to put their own stamp on their chosen space. We also offer a bespoke castle wedding package, turning Floors Castle into an exclusive hire venue fit for a royal celebration.
Review
When it comes to castles, Floors Castle is truly the real deal. Being the largest inhabited castle within Scotland, it really is a castle that is fit for a queen, or a king for that matter! Having visited every attraction I feature, sometimes twice, I could probably visit Floors Castle and Gardens 5 times and still not see all there is on offer here. Everything about this attraction is award winning and with Powerscourt Gardens in Co. Wicklow, Ireland being voted National Geographics number 3 Garden in the world, if I were judging, the fabulous gardens here at Floors would most definitely be a close fourth! Originally built for the 1st Duke of Roxburghe in 1721, the castle is so pristine, you’d think you’d stepped back in time to the first day it opened its doors. I think it also worth mentioning their wonderful walled garden cafe, whose food is truly delicious and very reasonably priced.
