Ernespie Farm
Review
Ernespie Farm, just outside the market town of Castle Douglas, is one of those places that leaves a far bigger impression than you might expect. The McMiken family have created a wonderful visitor attraction while continuing to work the dairy farm that has been part of their lives for generations. There is plenty here to keep younger visitors happy, from indoor play and outdoor activities to tractor rides and seasonal events throughout the year. The Farmhouse Kitchen is also well worth visiting, offering a relaxed place to enjoy good food before exploring the garden centre and gift shop. What stood out most during my visit was the genuine warmth of the place. Nothing feels forced or overdone, and the family’s pride in farming can be seen throughout. Ernespie Farm is friendly, well run and full of simple pleasures, making it an excellent choice for a family day out near Castle Douglas.

There is something wonderfully romantic about a stay at Kirkwirral Guesthouse, where luxury genuinely comes as standard.
