Dylan Thomas Boathouse
Review
“Good-bye, good luck, struck the sun and the moon, to the fisherman lost on the land. He stands alone in the door of his home, with his long-legged heart in his hands.” Dylan Thomas.
Wales’ most famous English-Language poet, Dylan Thomas lived on and off in the Welsh town of Laugharne, for most of his life, and wrote much of his greatest work in The Boathouse, where he lived with Caitlin and their children from 1949 to 1953. Set in a cliff overlooking the Taf estuary is where Dylan Thomas wrote many of his major pieces, including Under Milk Wood. The house now contains audio visual presentations, original furnishings, memorabilia and a selection of paintings, prints and photographs, a themed bookshop, tearoom, viewing platform and terrace. The Dylan Thomas Boathouse truly is a remarkable place to visit, with a rich history that surrounds you, offering outstanding views of the Taf estuary and the Gower beyond.
