The Connemara Heritage and History Centre, established by Martin and Norah in 1991, offers a captivating glimpse into the life and hardships faced by the people of Connemara. A visit to Dan O’Hara’s restored cottage transports you back to a time when survival was a daily struggle for families like Dan’s, who lived here with his wife and seven children. This award-winning centre vividly portrays the resilience and determination of the Irish during one of their most challenging periods. In addition to its rich historical exhibits, the centre offers cozy accommodation, where guests can enjoy a hearty breakfast and the genuine hospitality of Martin and his team. The rooms are comfortable and welcoming, providing a perfect blend of history and relaxation. A visit to the Connemara Heritage and History Centre is not only an educational experience but also a heartfelt tribute to the enduring spirit of the people of Connemara.
