The Charlemont
Review
The Charlemont in Armagh is exactly the kind of family owned and family run hotel that deserves to be celebrated. As one of Co. Armagh’s oldest hotels, with a building dating back to the 1700s, it carries a wonderful sense of history, yet offers the comfort and freshness expected by today’s traveller. Since the extensive renovations of 1999, the Forster family, who've owned this hotel for 90 years, have clearly invested with care, protecting its character while securing its future for generations to come. The rooms are clean, comfortable and welcoming, providing excellent value without ever feeling ordinary. For visitors exploring Armagh and the surrounding area, The Charlemont offers an affordable, historic and genuinely hospitable place to stay. Its charm makes returning very easy indeed.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Food at The Charlemont in Armagh feels every bit as welcoming as the historic hotel itself. This wonderful building has stood for centuries, and since the 1760s has offered travellers both comfortable accommodation and hospitality, giving it a pedigree few places can match. Today, sisters Helen and Judith, together with their fantastic team, continue that tradition with genuine care and pride. As custodians of such an important property, they clearly understand that good food is central to the guest experience. The menu is honest, tasty and varied, with something to suit all tastes, whether you are calling in for a relaxed bite in Turners Lounge Bar or eating in their historic dining room, The Charlemont remains a warm, dependable and thoroughly enjoyable Armagh food stop.
