Blarney Woollen Mills Hotel
Review
Staying at the new Blarney Woollen Mills Hotel feels like checking into a living chapter of Blarney’s heritage. This smart four-star sits within the old mill buildings, originally Mahon’s Mills (1823), and the designers have honoured the history while delivering modern comfort. My room was plush, beautifully finished and thoughtfully laid out; it genuinely has a five-star feel, from the calm colour palette to the little touches that make you linger. What really elevates the stay, though, is the team—warm, approachable and eager to help, they make the place feel instantly familiar. Dinner in Christy’s Pub is a must: my lamb shank was rich, tender and absolutely divine. Come morning, the breakfast offering is just as impressive, whether you fancy a generous continental spread or a proper Full Irish to set you up for exploring. It’s a base, steps from the castle and village buzz.

Blarney Woollen Mills is far more than a souvenir stop, it’s a brilliant Irish success story you can experience firsthand. From humble beginnings at an old Irish cottage, beside this historic mill, Christy Kelleher once carried his woollen garments up to Blarney Castle to sell in the gift shop.

Yes, kissing the stone is most definitely a rite of passage, but it’s only the beginning. T
