Bankfield Museum
Review
Once upon a time, there was a Victorian Mansion owned by the renowned philanthropist and MP, Colonel Edward Akroyd. Having become a museum since the1880’s, the whole world can now take in its beauty. Located at a short distance from Halifax, you will get to discover many treasures, dating all the way back to Ancient Egypt. The team is ever so friendly, and they really do a fabulous job of collecting and preserving items. This grade II listed historic house museum, is uniquely elegant, and has the most ravishing of interiors. There are always so many fascinating exhibitions going on here. Whether you are into photography, embroidery, textile art, or you might even have a keen interest in paintings, there is something for everyone. The story of Halifax and Calderdale is told in a truly beautiful, inventive, and unique way.
