Balreask Bar, Restaurant & Guest Accommodation
Review
Just a short drive from Navan, Enda Blaneys Balreask Bar, Restaurant & Guest Accommodation proves why he has earned my endorsement for a second time. I first visited in 2020; since then, standards have risen again. With additional rooms now available, each space feels modern, spotless and thoughtfully equipped, delivering comfort without the hefty price tag. Options span smart singles and welcoming doubles right through to well-sized family rooms, so every traveller is covered. Expect good mattresses, powerful showers and quiet, efficient heating, plus handy on-site parking. Breakfast sets you up for the day, while the friendly team keep everything running smoothly. As a base for exploring the Boyne Valley and returning to a restful night, Balreask hits that sweet spot of value and quality.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Balreask delivers the sort of honest cooking that makes you plan a return before you’ve left. Under host Enda, the team hums with genuine hospitality and it shows on every plate. Mornings start bright with properly cooked breakfasts, think fluffy eggs, local back, good sausages and bread worth buttering. Lunch brings generous, well-seasoned comforts alongside lighter bites, ideal for a quick refuel or a lingering catch-up. Evenings step up a gear with classics done right and seasonal specials that lean into locally sourced produce wherever possible. Service is attentive without fuss, pacing courses so conversation flows. If you’re dashing home, their takeaway, food and a well-chosen bottle of wine keeps standards high on the go. Simple, satisfying and reliably good value. Ideal for families, too.
