Ballinrobe Racecourse is a hidden gem located in the heart of County Mayo and as the only racecourse in the county, it truly delivers a standout visitor experience. Recognised by its peers as ‘Racecourse of the Year for both 2023 and 2012, it’s clear that attention to detail and warm hospitality are at the forefront. The track itself is a right-handed oval, approximately a mile long, offering fantastic viewing opportunities, horses come into sight regularly, adding to the thrill. There’s a genuine, personal touch here that makes families feel especially welcome. The facilities are excellent, with a laid-back, friendly vibe that suits both seasoned racegoers and casual visitors alike. The summer race calendar also means you’re more likely to enjoy your day under clear skies. While I’m no expert in horse racing, I know a great visitor experience when I see one, and Ballinrobe Racecourse delivers that in spades.
