Both the Birdcage Café and The Egg Café are fabulous places too. They even have terraces where you can sit and admire some incredible views. The Cheese Room, Charcuterie and Wine Shop are a favourite of visitors. With a fine selection of wine and food, it is a heaven for foodies.

We have featured a small number of Avoca sites in this Top 100 Attractions in Ireland book simply because they are the epitome of Irish life. Started off in the seventies, but on a site that has a 290 year history, young solicitor Donald Pratt and his teacher wife Hillary took a massive gamble that only an Irishman could pull off. With pure determination and belief in his products he set out to bring back a past tradition into a modern age. This gamble paid off which now sees Avoca sites all over the country. Rathcoole for that matter is another one of their popular sites. Avoca Rathcoole sees thousands of visitors through its doors every month, and although you may pay a bit more than average places in the area you get incredible value for money not only with their food, but their shop products to. A pure delight!
