Arigna Mining Experience
This Energy Centre is absolutely fascinating! Have you always been curious about what a coal mining life would have been like in this extraordinary valley? Get ready for all to be revealed. This centre dates back to the 1700's and officially closed down in the 1990's. The whole visit is a fabulous experience, but visitors particularly love joining in the underground tour. Preserving the heritage in such a great way, the tour lasts around 45 minutes. The methods used to extract coal are even demonstrated with some lighting and sound effects to give visitors an incredible experience. In the Energy Centre Building, as well as on the close by wind farms, some of the systems can also be viewed while being operated. *
Review
All though like your children, you shouldn’t actually have any favourites, however, this particular attraction is a personal favourite of mine and one of the attractions that holds special memories in my heart. Upon your arrival, just park your car and take in the spectacular views of the Arigna Valley and the lough that sits within it. The staff and all team members here at Arigna Mine are not only really friendly, but really knowledgeable within their field and the tours really do leave you with the sense of satisfaction that everything you’ve seen and heard during your tour brings you total value for money. I think this is very much helped by the fact that all of the tour guides are ex miners themselves and there isn’t anything that these guys don’t know about this mine and the very hard job that they would of undertook 6 days a week.
