We have welcomed close to 5m visitors now.18th Century Westport House is privately owned and operated by Jeremy Browne ( The 11th Marquess of Sligo) and his family, who are direct descendants of Grace O' Malley, the famous 16th Century Pirate Queen of Connaught. From small beginnings of 2,700 visitors in 1960, it has become one of Ireland's best loved attractions and was recently voted one of the Best Family Visitor Attractions in Ireland 3 years in a row by Primary Times magazine. The jewel in the crown of the West, you cannot visit Mayo without stopping in.

Westport House is probably one of the biggest attractions within the county of Mayo, but people don't just travel from Mayo to Westport House, their catchment area is huge, people travel from as far as Sligo and Galway to this popular attraction and once visited it's not hard too understand why! I have visited here now on three separate occasions and absolutely enjoyed every minute of each visit. Westport house however isn't only a place for excitement and adventure, it is also a place of huge historical significance with its owner the Marquess of Sligo being a direct descendant of the famous private queen ‘Grace O'Malley' Now, at Westport House you can camp on their purposely built camping site. This idyllic spot really is a safe and ideal haven for all those that like to camp, and I know for a fact you will enjoy everything that Westport House has too offer.
