Watermouth Family Theme Park and Castle takes you back in time to the simple pleasures of Victorian life. With animated scenes, a model railway, mechanical musical instruments, including a piano and banjo that will play itself, you can see the curios of the past come to life! Then make it out of the dungeon labyrinth to a wonderful theme park set in a beautiful natural valley. You can’t help to be amazed at some of the breath taking views we have of the superb North Devon Coast. Marvel at the Mighty Mortier Water Show, explore Gnomeland and go panning for gold as the Gnome residents go about their daily business. Then take in some of the fantastic rides. You could fly your own aeroplane on the Junior Aviator, get lost in the jungle of The Big River Ride, or plunge down the mighty Tube Slide. Perhaps you would like to play crazy golf, or even crazy snooker, or maybe a walk round the maze and see if you can find your way out.

Watermouth Castle offers a rare combination of opportunities – for not only do visitors have the chance to jump out of a 4 poster bed, and look at bays and cliffs from a castle stronghold, but they can also enjoy unlimited free entry to one of the West Country’s premier tourist attractions during their stay.

Within the splendid Castle itself, there are seven superb self-catering apartments, available between Easter and the end of October, sleeping from 2-6 persons with two or three bedrooms. There is also an indoor heated swimming-pool and an outside patio area exclusively for our apartment guests.

Review

Devon has most certainly has what it takes when it comes to family attractions and this is helped along all the more with the addition of Watermouth Castle and Family Theme Park. Normally I would suggest an afternoon, or morning is needed whilst visiting most attractions, but not Watermouth Castle, you'll need the whole day in my opinion. The whole day is needed not just to do everything, not at all, it's because once you have done everything, you'll want to do it again and again such is the magic of this place. One of my highlights of the day was most certainly the 'Water Show' Extravaganza. I first saw something similar many years ago in the Isle of Wight and when I saw Watermouth's version, it really took me back. I think this attraction is most definitely one for all ages and with new things being added all the time, I can't wait to return!
