As a seasoned travel journalist with nearly two decades of experience visiting attractions across the British Isles and Ireland, I embarked on a journey to sunny Florida to see how some of the world's biggest theme parks compare. My first stop was Universal Studios and the Islands of Adventure in Orlando, driven by my love for all things 'Harry Potter.' Let me tell you why this choice proved to be spot-on.

Upon entering Universal Studios, after passing through the vibrant CityWalk, a mini attraction in itself, the excitement is palpable. The grand studio gates beckon, and as you step inside, the reality of this immersive world hits you. Although roller coasters aren’t usually my cup of tea, I braved them here and didn’t regret it. Missing out on these thrilling rides would have been a mistake, as they truly are some of the best.

Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure are not parks to be rushed. Each offers a plethora of experiences that demand more than a single day. Highlights include the Bourne Stuntacular show and the spellbinding special effects show. Yet, the pièce de résistance for any 'Harry Potter' fan is undoubtedly the Hogwarts and Hogsmeade experiences, enhanced by the magical journey on the Hogwarts Express linking both parks.

Post exploration of all Orlando's theme parks, Universal's two parks emerged as my favorites. Despite the heavy footfall, I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness. The parks are immaculately maintained, with numerous bins constantly emptied—a testament to their commitment to a pristine environment.

Culinary delights abound within the parks. The Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade served up delicious fare with a magical ambiance, while the Today Cafe near the entrance became my go-to for its heavenly cakes and arguably the best coffee in Orlando.

In conclusion, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure exceeded my expectations, standing out as top-tier attractions in the theme park capital of the world. For anyone considering a visit, these parks should be at the top of your list.
