The West County Hotel
Review
The West County Hotel is another fine example of traditional Irish hospitality, proudly owned by the Colgan family for half a century. Having purchased the hotel ten years after taking over the Lucan Spa Hotel, the family’s experience in looking after guests is evident throughout. The bedrooms offer everything needed for a comfortable and restful stay, without the eye-watering prices often associated with some of Dublin’s larger chain hotels. For anyone looking for good value accommodation within easy reach of the city, this hotel is certainly worth considering. What really stands out, however, is the warmth of the staff, who are friendly, attentive and always willing to go that little bit further for their guests. That personal touch is clearly part of the Colgan way.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Food at The West County Hotel offers a pleasing choice between polished dining and relaxed comfort, making it easy to find something to suit the occasion. The Pine Restaurant provides the more formal setting and is currently home to the hotel’s breakfast service, with menus that bring together classic Irish favourites and familiar European flavours. For something more casual, the Liffey Bar delivers a lively, welcoming atmosphere and a menu designed for enjoyable dining. One offering that deserves mention is the Sunday carvery in the Liffey Bar, which has built a loyal following and attracts diners from far and wide. With friendly service, generous portions and plenty of choice, the West County Hotel continues to prove that good hotel dining needn’t be complicated or overpriced.
