The Strand Hotel
Review
The Strand Hotel in Bray stands out as a prime example of the quality we aim to feature in our Top 100 Attractions series. Once home to the world-renowned writer Oscar Wilde, this charming, family-run establishment offers an authentic experience of Irish hospitality. I enjoyed a restful sleep in a beautifully designed room, exuding luxury at a fraction of the cost of a Dublin stay. Impeccable cleanliness and thoughtful details made it feel truly special. Bray itself, an understated seaside town, adds to the charm with its friendly locals and relaxed atmosphere. Falling asleep to the soothing sound of the waves was an unexpected bonus. For those seeking a tranquil coastal escape with a personal touch, The Strand Hotel is a hidden gem worth discovering.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
I had the pleasure of experiencing the food offerings here at the wonderful Strand Hotel in Bray, during my stay, and I was thoroughly impressed. Once home to Oscar Wilde, this 18th century property has been lovingly and sympathetically restored. Their breakfast menu caters to all tastes, from a hearty full Irish to a perfectly prepared eggs royale. The quality of the food was excellent, and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating, ensuring every need was met with a friendly attitude. Additionally, the hotel boasts a high-end Indian restaurant downstairs, 'The Curry Leaf,' which offers a delightful dining experience. Also, the bar meals are equally satisfying, offering a variety of choices for a more casual dining option. All in all, a fantastic culinary experience.
