The Steam Packet Inn
The Steam Packet Hotel in the Isle of Whithorn is situated on the quayside of a picturesque little fishing village right down on the very tip of the south west peninsula of Scotland. The big picture windows look out over the harbour where you can watch the activities of the local fishermen and sailors alongside the daily coming and going of the tides. The hotel boast two bars and seven en-suite bedrooms. Its a building that clings to its heritage, radiates a family atmosphere and offers a comfortable bed for the night. The 'Packet' is renowned for its food with an extensive menu served in either bar, lower dinning room or conservatory. The specials menu is changed twice daily and focuses on making use of the best available, local, Scottish produce through the seasons. Unsurprisingly, we specialise in seafood; taking advantage of what the local boats can provide. Lobster, crab, sole and monkfish are just some of the dishes regularly served here. A wide selection of drinks are available from the bar including our award winning real ales, we are the 2013 area and region CAMRA pub of the year winners, extensive selection of malt whiskies and comprehensive wine list of which we serve at least nine by the glass. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate are served all day. Local activities include walking, fishing, cycling, shooting, bird watching, sailing or just simply relaxing in an idyllic location with a good book. Children and dogs welcome.
