There is something wonderfully easy-going about The Ship Inn in the peaceful East Yorkshire village of Dunswell. It is the sort of place that immediately feels relaxed and welcoming, with plenty of character and none of the fuss. To the side of the pub you’ll find The Ship’s Quarters, a collection of comfortable rooms set around a small courtyard, giving guests a little extra privacy and making this a great base for exploring this side of the Humber Bridge and beyond. The food is exactly what good pub food should be: honest, tasty, generous and satisfying. Whether you are stopping for lunch, dinner or staying for a few nights, there is a real sense of value here too. In a year when I have visited countless venues, The Ship Inn stands out for offering genuine hospitality at remarkably sensible prices. Comfortable, friendly and refreshingly unpretentious, it is well worth knowing about.
