The Rustic Inn in Abbeyshrule is one of those rare family-run businesses that feels woven into the fabric of the local community. More than simply a pub, it is an institution, and after visiting, I was genuinely taken aback by just how much this welcoming venue has to offer. Whether you are cruising along the Royal Canal or making the journey to Dublin from Sligo or the North, this is a superb place to pause and recharge. With a small selection of comfortable bedrooms, a lively bar and a very capable restaurant, The Rustic Inn gets hospitality absolutely right. The friendly team add greatly to the experience and make every guest feel valued from the moment they arrive. This award-winning venue surprised me in all the best ways, not just for its quality, but because an enjoyable meal or an overnight stay here remains refreshingly affordable for all visitors too.
