Review

The Red Admiral in the heart of Gosforth, West Cumbria, is a true hidden gem! Run by the ever-welcoming David & Michelle Ancell, who are well known in the village, this pub is the definition of warm hospitality. The moment you step inside, you’re met with a genuine English pub atmosphere, complete with a roaring fire, hearty food, and friendly faces. West Cumbria itself has been a revelation, stunning landscapes, quiet roads, and none of the crowds you find in some Lake District villages. Everyone I’ve met has been genuinely friendly, and the Red Admiral is no exception. The food is outstanding, and if you don’t feel like leaving, you don’t have to, there are comfortable, rooms available too and a stay here won’t break the bank! It’s the kind of place where you can eat well, sleep well, and feel right at home. What more could you ask for?
