The New Inn at Yealand is the epitome of what my books celebrate. This unique family-run beauty made me catch my breath: with rooms finished with no expense spared and food you immediately wish you’d ordered lots more of. A boutique pub with not a whisper of pretentiousness, it’s exactly what you hope to find in the countryside and more. Your hosts, Lauren and Ben, bring years of hospitality to the table. Ben commands the kitchen with quiet precision, sending out plates that seldom return with a crumb left. Lauren keeps the front of house humming, warm and wonderfully attentive. Between them they’ve shaped one of the area’s very best pubs, no exaggeration. Stylish bedrooms, a cracking menu, polished service and that rare village-inn soul combine to create a stay that lingers. I only wish every town had a New Inn at Yealand; it would make my job delightfully easy indeed.
