We are a traditional, 18th century stone-built village pub with accommodation near the picturesque small town of Usk, in the heart of rural Monmouthshire, South Wales. Kelly and Steve Jolliffe and their team are proud of the great reputation they have for their delicious, home-cooked food, and for the relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The roaring log fires and cosy bars will cheer up the worst of winter weather while the beautiful gardens with their glorious summertime floral displays are perfect for enjoying a drink or something to eat on warmer days and evenings. If you are visiting the area for leisure or business or just fancy a night out, then there are 10 en-suite rooms offering everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Nessie and her team of chefs pride themselves on the taste and quality of the food from our kitchens. We use fresh, local ingredients whenever possible, offering an extensive variety of meals and snacks to suit an equally wide range of tastes. It's good, honest, home-cooked, traditional fare of the kind most of us love to eat but that's now so often missing from the menus of many fancy restaurants.

We know what goes down well with our customers! You love old-favourites like steak pie, fresh battered cod or liver and bacon with onions. Dishes like lasagne verdi, home-cooked ham and chips and chicken curry are always very popular. Then we've several vegetarian options on our Full Menu, offering an excellent choice for those not wanting meat or fish. 'Dishes of the day' are featured on our specials board throughout the year, offering innovative, tasty, sometimes seasonal, starters and main courses, as well as a very tempting range of mostly home-made puddings and desserts. We also have a selection of sandwiches, paninis and other light snacks available on our Light Bites Menu. On Sundays enjoy our homecooked roasts. For your special occasions or get togethers you can book exclusive use of ourseparate Dining Room. We can take a maximum number of 30 people for a sit down meal.

OUR ROOMS

We have 10 attractively-furnished bedrooms, all with en-suite bath and shower, in a stone-built, two-storey, 17th century stable block next to the main building. Ground floor rooms open on to the garden terrace. Our aim is always to make sure your stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, whether you are in the area for leisure or work, or just simply want to avoid driving home after a night out. Our accommodation is very competitively-priced, including a full cooked breakfast. Free wi-fi and flat screen TVs in all the rooms.

There are also tea and coffee-making facilities, hair dryer, heated towel rail and complimentary toiletries. We can arrange a baby-listening service. Two of our rooms have special facilities for the disabled and access to the dining room is 'wheelchair friendly'. A great bonus for visiting golfers or hikers is our well-equipped drying room where wet clothing can be aired or stored overnight at no extra cost.
