The General Tarleton
Review
Tucked away in the charming village of Ferrensby, within easy reach of Harrogate, Knaresborough and the timeless Roman city of York, the General Tarleton is the kind of place couples quietly fall for. This historic coaching inn blends character, comfort and genuine hospitality with effortless ease. From the moment you arrive, the welcome feels warm and sincere, with a team that clearly takes pride in making every guest feel valued. The bedrooms are beautifully styled, finished with real care and offer that rare balance of elegance and comfort, making it wonderfully easy to settle in and simply relax. There is a reassuring sense of escapism here, the sort that turns an overnight stop into something far more memorable. Dining is another highlight entirely. Head chef Aled Williams brings imagination and skill to the kitchen, producing dishes that are thoughtful, refined and deeply satisfying. Altogether, this is a thoroughly special Yorkshire retreat indeed.
