The Gallery Bar & Kitchen
We blend elements of contemporary style and a relaxed, comforting atmosphere to bring you the ultimate in informal dining. Our outside terrace area, covered from the weather, heated with flame towers, overlooks the historic Chester streets. Whether you fancy nibbles in the bar or a 4 course meal, rest assured that your every need is catered for.Our extensive drinks selection means you will never be short for something that little bit different to drink, with an eclectic range of beers, wines and spirits there is something special for everyone. For those looking for something more substantial, our breakfast menu is served from 10:00am daily, with a snack and al a carte menu running until 22:00pm offering a wide range of food. From burgers, wraps and snacks, to steaks cooked on our Plancha Grill, all our offerings are of the highest quality and taste.
We use a style known as ” sous Vide ” or low temperature, waterbath cooking. This process allows us to achieve, we think, superior texture and flavour, not found in traditional cooking techniques.
So, please feel free to join us for a drink, a light bite, or a full dining experience at The Gallery Bar and Kitchen. We pride ourself on the welcome you will recieve.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
Review
Whilst researching and working on this latest Northwest England book, I don't tend to be home at weekends that often, however I had a rare Friday that I wasn't away from home. I know that since they have been open it is quite hard to book a table at the new Gallery Bar & Kitchen, despite knowing this I rang the Gallery to book a table, although the restaurant was quite booked up that evening they still managed to fit us in, which already put a smile on my face, as for Chester the restaurants, once full, the restaurants, tend not to be so accommodating.
When we arrived at the restaurant, we were shown to a lovely table where we were given the menus and a wine list and I have to say that even though they were busy, we were given more than ample time to peruse, chat and decide what we wanted to order. After about twenty minutes or so we were shown to our tables along with our drinks, I always love it when they offer to take your drinks to the table, as you know then that your in a restaurant where they really know how to treat their diners. Once we were seated it wasn't too long before our first courses arrived. I had the most delicious lightly smoked slivers of duck, where my dinner date had ordered the Goats Cheese Croquettes.
After sharing and thoroughly enjoying each others starter courses, our main courses found their way to our table without having to wait too long. My friend had a generous portion of Sea Bass with Pak Choi and Slightly roasted Potatoes, whereas I couldn't resist ordering one of my true favourites, Lamb shank with root vegetables, traditional Mash Potatoes and the most tastiest of sauces. Whilst we were eating, I liked the fact that the music was on, but not so loud that it was intrusive to your conversation. All too often restaurants hammer the music out, but here at the Gallery they seemed to have the atmosphere just right for people to be able to enjoy, not only the delicious array of locally sourced produce but the conversation of their dining partners also.
All in all, it has to be said this was one of the most enjoyable of evenings, since starting to work on the Top 100 Attractions books. Every mouth watering dish that came passed us on its way to the many diners that were eating that night, we simply wished we had ordered. To end the evening and as we were both pretty full, we couldnt resist sharing a Melting Griottine Cherry and Dark Chocolate Fondant, this was the longest course we waited for as this dish is always prepared fresh, and was definitely worth the wait. The Gallery Bar & Kitchen is one of Chester's newest of restaurants, but stands out for miles above the rest, it will certainly not be long before we return.
