As I visited the Butchers Arms Bunkhouse, the final touches were being put on the accommodation and believe me, the owners Cara & Andrew, really haven’t spared any expense. This has to be one of the best examples of bunkhouse accommodation that I’ve seen in a long time and they most certainly have set the bar here. The owners themselves are local and have seen previous owners come and go, this really did upset them and so, they decided themselves to invest their own money into the project and the results are truly stunning. The Bunkhouse itself sits perfectly next to the pub, where you will find a really warm and friendly atmosphere. On the night I visited and as I came out of the cold, I was met with a really warm welcome and after looking at their well thought out menu, I wouldn’t want to eat anywhere else!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Having featured the Butchers Arms Bunkhouse in my accommodation section of this chapter, I really could not put their pub into our food section. This warm, friendly pub really is becoming a destination for its food and having looked at its menu, I could clearly see that ripping their customers off wasn’t in Cara & Andrew’s vocabulary. The food itself is not only reasonably priced, but where possible, all locally sourced, which people really do care about these days. With a roaring fire, friendly staff and loads of real ale on tap, this will soon become one of your favourite pubs. I have visited hundreds of pubs over the years, all of which are great in their own rights, but not all will leave you with the warm fuzzy feeling that the Butchers pub does. But hey, you don’t have to take my word for it, go see for yourself!
