Set in the picturesque model village of Port Sunlight on the Wirral Peninsula, The Bridge Inn is a Grade II listed hotel and restaurant with many original interior features including extensive wood panelling and a stunning stained glass roof dome. Built by Victorian industrialist and philanthropist William Hesketh Lever in 1900, The Bridge Inn was originally a ‘temperance hotel’ with tea rooms and assembly rooms, but it did not serve alcohol. One of 900 Grade II listed buildings in the village including an art gallery, cottage hospital, schools and homes designed to house Lever’s factory workforce, the alcohol ban was reluctantly lifted in 1903 after villagers voted 80% in favour of serving liquor at The Bridge Inn.
