The Bear Hotel
A former coaching inn, The Bear at Crickhowell has been welcoming guests for 500 years and still extends the same warmth, comfort, cosy atmosphere, good food and wide selection of drinks as ever before.
You can eat and drink with friendly locals in the historic bar – with its oak beams, wooden floors and open fires – or in the more intimate settings of our restaurants. In the summer, we’ll serve you in our beautiful gardens, surrounded by fragrant flowers and shaded by trees.
Guests can stay in oak-beamed rooms just as stagecoach passengers did or in more modern suites, some with spa baths.
All of this in the charming town of Crickhowell, surrounded by the stunning scenery of the Brecon Beacons National Park, yet just over two hours from London and around an hour from Bristol, Cardiff, Swansea or Birmingham.
STAY AT THE BEAR
Stay at The Bear and you can sleep in the same oak-beamed rooms that stagecoach passengers did, resting after a long journey.Or you can cross the cobbled courtyard and sleep in one of our larger, more modern style rooms in our converted stables and coach house.Every room is unique at The Bear. There are 35 ensuite bedrooms – rooms for every occasion and every budget. Some have spa baths, the Honeymoon Suite has an original four poster bed.A number of rooms can accommodate extra beds or twin occupancy to accommodate families.Whatever you decide, you’ll have a comfortable bed, and good quality towels and toiletries.
EAT AT THE BEAR
Eat at The Bear and leave satisfied – that’s our aim. Our menu offers a wide range of locally sourced ingredients, well cooked to suit traditional tastes or those guests with an appetite for finer dining. The Brecon Beacons have become a centre for organic producers, and artisan food makers – many of whose products appear on our menu. You can choose where you want to eat – in amongst the chatter and laughter of the bar, the more intimate candle-lit surroundings of our table-service restaurants, or amongst the floral displays in our summer garden. You can reserve tables in our restaurant and we have a small allocation of tables in the bar which can be booked for meals before 7pm. All other tables are on a first-come first seated basis, but if you are able to wait, we always try to seat everyone. Eating at The Bear is not just for special occasions. We keep our prices affordable so we can welcome you back again and again. Special menus mean you’ll always be spoiled for choice.
