The Abbey Inn Byland
Review
The historic village of Byland, together with its the Cistercian Monastery Inn has all the makings of a romantic country escape. Here at the Abbey Inn and under the ownership of Tommy Banks, whose remarkable culinary career saw him become the youngest person in the UK to earn a Michelin star at just 24, this charming inn reflects an understanding of style, comfort and quality. That same attention to detail, also seen at the Michelin-starred Black Swan at Oldstead and Roots in York, is wonderfully apparent here. With just a small collection of beautifully presented bedrooms, there is an intimacy to a stay at the Abbey Inn that immediately draws you in. Add to that a hospitality team who know exactly how to make guests feel welcome, and you have somewhere genuinely special. For couples seeking fine food, warmth and a memorable overnight stay, this is a destination that more than delivers.
