Teddy Bears of Witney
Teddy Bears of Witney was established by Ian Pout as the first shop in the UK to specialise in selling new and old teddy bears.
Our staff are knowledgeable and loyal - three of us have been here since we opened in 1985. We all love bears.
We stock a wide range of limited editions by world-renowned manufacturers, including Steiff, Merrythought, Hermann and many of the world's finest bear artists.
We also have a museum display which includes Alfonzo (who belonged to a Russian princess), Aloysius (from Brideshead Revisited), Theodore (Peter Bull's favourite bear) and many of the original bears in The Teddy Bear Encyclopaedia.
Review
Almost all of us during our childhood had a teddy bear of some description, I myself remember having a Golly, but for sinister reasons we are not allowed to call this particular toy by this name, but I don't think they even make them anymore. But one traditional soft toy that is still enjoyed by millions of people is the good old fashioned teddy bears that you see here on this page. At Teddy Bears of Witney in Oxfordshire, they are doing their bit too keep the love of teddy bears still very much alive. For decades this shop has been selling these cuddly loveable bears and nearly all of the bears that they sell are all limited editions. Also, this fantastic shop houses probably the smallest museum that I have been in. This houses some famous bears and quite a few rare and antique bears, definitely worth a view!
