Tattykeel House & Garden
Tattykeel House is surrounded by 1.5 acres of landscaped garden for our guests to enjoy. The gardens are open under theNational Trust Garden Scheme from May to July. A country garden of approx. 1.5 acres created over a 25 year period, planted with conifers, shrubs, roses and perennials. There is a sheltered seating area, a Japanese influenced area, interesting features and a collection of well grown climbers on the house. The garden was featured on the BBC television series ‘Greenmount Garden'. Mrs Kathleen Ward runs a very interesting craft studio at the house. She is a renowned artist and her fascination with colour has led Kathleen to producing many beautifully crafted works of art. There are four unique areas of art and craft; hand painted and hand rolled silk scarves, textile art, original artwork and
handmade designer handbags.
Review
We have some major gardens featured in many of our books, but size isn't always everything when it comes to a garden. The garden at Tattykeel didn't just get the attention of us here at Top 100 Attractions, but also the attention of the National Trust. So much so, the National Trust now has Tattykeel on they're National Trust Gardens scheme, and quite rightly so too. The gardens here at Tattykeel house are really charming and so much hard work has gone into making sure that your visit here is one too be remembered. Then there is the design studio, also at the same address. Kathleen Ward has too be one of Northern Ireland's leading design geniuses and I absolutely loved some of the items that I was shown on the day of my visit. Along with her husband Hugh, Kathleen has created Tattykeel and in my opinion they have so much to be proud of.
