Fresh from a recent refurbishment, the Talbot Midleton Hotel shows what Irish family ownership does best: putting guest experience before profit. I’ve endorsed it twice now, and it’s easy to see why it remains a firm favourite. Bedrooms feel modern, bright and thoughtfully designed, with everything you need for a cosy night’s sleep, whether you’re travelling solo, as a couple, or with the kids. What really elevates the stay is the team, warm, welcoming and always on hand, without ever being overbearing. A leisure centre to the rear adds extra value for downtime, while the location makes exploring East Cork and its many attractions effortless, with Fota Wildlife Park only a short drive away for a brilliant Cork break, and other top sites close by.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Park 89 Bar & Restaurant at the Talbot Midleton Hotel feels like a brand-new venue after its total refurbishment. The space looks superb, stylish, bright, and inviting, yet it still has that relaxed hotel warmth that makes you want to linger. I dined here and, hand on heart, the meal was fantastic: beautifully presented, full of flavour, and clearly made with real care for provenance and locally inspired ingredients, from starter to desert. What truly elevates Park 89, though, is the team. During the hours I spent eating and getting some work done, their genuine warmth, thoughtful touches, and can-do attitude never dipped. Even if you’re not staying at the hotel, you’ll feel welcomed, looked after, and keen to return. It’s Midleton hospitality at its best.
