Snowdon Mountain Railway
Let Snowdon Mountain Railway take you on a journey of a lifetime to the rooftop of Wales. Snowdon, at 3,560ft dominates the landscape of Snowdonia National Park in North Wales. Claim this mountain peak, the highest in Wales, as a lifetime's achievement. With stunning scenery and awe-inspiring views it's all part of a great day out for you and your family in North Wales. The new visitor centre is a uniquely designed structure built of granite with large views from the “window on the world” wall of glass which makes up the front of the centre. It acts as a terminus for the Snowdon Mountain Railway providing refreshment facilities, toilets and interpretation of the mountain, its history and ways to enjoy it. Much of the interpretation is built into the structure.
Review
This railway needs no introduction, for those of you that have walked Snowdon, or even taken the train, you will be familiar with this unique railway service. The railway has been servicing Snowdon since 1896 and hasn't stopped since! Every year the railway sees more and more visitors and once you've taken a trip on this famous little narrow gauge railway it's easy to see why. I personally like to walk up Snowdon and get the train down, but no matter what your preference, upon your visit to Snowdon, no trip is complete until you've closed that carriage door and smelt the steam coming through your windows. No matter how many times you've ridden the train the views just get better and better, so what are you waiting for?
