Review

There are certain addresses that possess an unmistakable sense of occasion, and Regency House here in Belfast is undoubtedly one of them. After my visit, I quickly realised that its new custodians, Chris McClurg and Alice Stewart, had something rather special in their hands. Romance, understated elegance and exceptional hospitality seem to flow effortlessly through this remarkable property, where luxury is never forced, merely expected. County Down native Chris, an award-winning chef whose impressive career includes Great British Menu and more recently cooking for President Obama, remains wonderfully hands-on. Alongside Alice, he brings genuine warmth and personality to an establishment that could so easily feel intimidating, yet never does. What impressed me most was the complete absence of pretension. Guests are welcomed with sincerity, whether staying overnight or visiting for an exceptional meal. Regency House is sophisticated, intimate and beautifully assured; a Belfast address that truly deserves its prestigious reputation.
