Osborne House
Review
Built in 1851, Osborne House started out as a high quality gentleman’s residence, and whereas this fabulous hotel is still most definitely high quality, ladies too can now enjoy. If you are lucky enough to be a guest, you will be literally swept off your feet by the sheer beauty and luxury of your surroundings. Almost as if guests are following Alice through the looking glass, the ravishingly rich furnishings in gold, silver and ivory hues seem to glisten in the hazy candlelight, contrasting with the chessboard floors beautifully. The bedrooms are dreamy and dramatic, perfect for a special occasion or just as a wonderful treat. 4 poster beds with billowy fabrics, free standing baths, and after a night inside luscious sheets, a lovely hot breakfast. Guests are offered amenities, and free parking.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
For a truly wonderful experience, a visit to Osborne House will create a food memory that you will never forget. Exquisite food served in graceful, lavish surroundings, but at the same time, maintaining a relaxed, laid back ambience. So it’s posh, but not so posh that if you drop your spoon you’ll be in trouble! An opulent candlelit Café awaits downstairs, blending the Victorian period seamlessly with a contemporary feel. The superb menu consists of a brasserie style food, with a fixed price three course set menu including a delicious glass of wine. The menu includes Cream of tomato, carrot, orange and ginger soup, or how about Grilled rainbow trout and prawns to start. Main meals include sizzling 8oz ribeye steaks, or tender, melt in the mouth slow braised lamb shank, Vegetable curry will spice up your life.
