Review

Oakfield Park, just outside Raphoe in County Donegal, is one of those attractions that seems to get better every time I visit. This is now the third time I have endorsed Oakfield Park, and it remains one of Donegal’s greatest hidden gems. In fact, it is one of the very few attractions on the island of Ireland to have been awarded all four of our Hidden Gem accolades. The gardens are every bit as beautiful as I remembered them, only somehow even more impressive, while the park’s wonderful railway remains a real highlight, with three trains to choose from. Another excellent addition is Buffers, their licensed restaurant, serving light lunches and making good use of produce grown in the gardens. With an ever-changing programme of events throughout the year, there is always a reason to return. If you are visiting Donegal, make sure Oakfield Park is firmly on your itinerary.
