Northumberland Zoo
Review
“Pussycat, Pussycat, I’ve got flowers, and lots of hours to spend with you, so go powder your cute little pussycat nose!” B.Bacharach/H.David.
Picture-perfect and always ready for a close up: the excellent Northumberland Country Zoo, near Felton in Northumberland, is a family-run zoo, a short drive away from Morpeth, and just over 20 miles from Newcastle. There’s a fab team of people on hand who are friendly, informative, and desperately in love with all of these creatures: great and small, including meerkats, snow leopards, armadillos, lemurs, macaws plus many more stunning animals. Huge outdoor compounds ensure the animals are happy, free and enjoying a rich quality of life. Voted as one of the best places to visit in the UK, the zoo welcomes visitors all year round, with free parking and reasonable prices, there is also a café, which serves hot and cold food, drinks and snacks, or why not dine alfresco with your other half, and bring a picnic?
