Mrs Dowsons Farm
We are a family-run dairy farm that has diversified into making ice cream, using milk from our own cows that you can see in the green pastures around the park. Our philosophy is to make real honest ice cream, by incorporating real natural ingredients rather than any artificial flavours. Because of this we are proud to produce a much tastier ice cream that is better for you! On the farm, we are passionate about giving children (and adults alike) the opportunity to see, touch and even handle, under our handlers supervision, our animals. The park has been built with one special feature in mind – that it is safe and enjoyable for all. After being out on the farm, our cafe allows you to sit back and relax with a coffee, home-made cake or even some of our famous ice cream. The cafe is always fully equipped with a play area for children – as you can see we have everyone in mind!
Review
I travel to a large number of farm parks throughout the wider British Isles every year and despite them all being fairly unique, they share the same passion, their love for the animals they work with on a daily basis. Mrs Dowsons Farm is nestled perfectly in between both Preston and Blackburn and despite being a farm park, they are no ordinary visitor attraction. They don't only want you to come and enjoy your visit to the park, they want you to learn as well. They have very cleverly added a very attractive visitor centre that has animal 'education' at its epicentre. The Dowson family really have created something quite special at this attraction and as well as their farm tour, lamb feeding and rabbit and chick handling, after a fun packed few hours you'll have to try their award winning 'Ice Cream' It truly is to die for, and as a huge ice cream fan myself, their product even gives Ben & Jerry's a run for its money!
