MOMA - Machynlleth
Review
Art Galleries are of the utmost importance because they are integral to the Arts, and without them, the works that Artists imagine and then make real, would never get into the hands of spectators.
The market town of Machynlleth, is home to the celebrated Museum of Modern Art Wales ( MOMA WALES) and this extraordinary gallery, not only shows constantly changing exhibitions of Modern Welsh Art, but possesses an extensive collection of works by artists from 1900 onwards. Machynlleth was the seat of Owain Glyndwr’s Welsh Parliament in 1404, and as such is recognised as the “Ancient Capital of Wales”. MOMA WALES stands adjacent to The Tabernacle: a former Wesleyan Chapel, which is now a centre for the Performing Arts. MOMA has seven art galleries and a concert hall in The Tabernacle, and promotes Welsh and international arts and cultural events, including The Machynlleth Festival which takes place in the Auditorium in late August every year. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and there’s a lovely little tea room where you can rest your achy feet for a while.
