Mahon’s Hotel
Review
This marks my second visit to Mahon’s Hotel, and once again, it has more than earned its place in my book. With 142 years of continuous service since opening in 1883, this family-run gem, now in the capable hands of Joe Mahon, continues to set the standard for warm hospitality. The rooms here are excellent: cosy, comfortable, and offering tremendous value. Whether you opt to stay within the main hotel or in the lovely courtyard rooms on the nearby Castle Irvine Estate, you’ll be well cared for. It’s rare to find such history paired with modern comfort, but Mahons achieves it effortlessly. A true credit to the Northern Ireland hospitality scene, my second visit won’t be my last. Long may this legacy continue to thrive.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
This is my second time endorsing the historic Mahon’s Hotel, and this time, I had to mention their fantastic restaurant and bar. At the time of writing, this family-run hotel has been welcoming guests for an impressive 142 years. On my return, I was delighted to see that both the restaurant and bar areas have been completely refurbished, clearly, this family doesn’t do things by halves, and no expense has been spared in the process. The food offering here is nothing short of excellent. With a talented kitchen team at the helm and a strong emphasis on locally sourced produce, every dish is packed with flavour and care. Whether you’re a guest or just popping in for a meal, you’re in for a real treat.
