Lough Lannagh Holiday Village
Review
"Once a top contender, Lough Lannagh Holiday Village has lost its charm, with poor customer service and disrespect for those who once endorsed it – a warning to potential visitors."
After endorsing the Lough Lannagh Holiday Village and its accommodation and cafe in the last edition of my Top 100 Attractions on the Island of Ireland book, I was very disappointed with the latest interaction with the people who are tasked with running the site. After Covid, I now of course rewrite my titles once every 5 years. This maintains that the quality and the standards endorsed within my successful series of Top 100 Attractions books, website and apps is of the very highest of standards.
After a recent interaction with Mr Paul Lennon, I can no longer stand by that decision. My experience with the park has been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing, let me explain why.
I reached out to Lough Lannagh, as I have done everyone re-chosen to be endorsed back in my successful Irish book, hoping to speak with Gerardine Lennon, the general manager I met back in 2015. The purpose of the visit was of course and on your behalf, travel back to see them, to make sure the place is as good for you, as it was when I last visited in 2015. What followed were repeated attempts to connect, only to be met with a gentleman identifying himself as Paul, later and after speaking with the county council who own the site, revealed to be Gerardine’s husband Mr Paul Lennon. Despite my polite requests, I was given excuse after excuse as to why Gerardine was unavailable – "she's on holiday," "she's at an appointment," and so on. What should have been a simple conversation turned into a series of dismissive encounters with Paul, who was rude, unhelpful, and frankly, unpleasant.
It’s baffling that a place whose primary goal is to create positive experiences for visitors, both children and adults would treat a potential endorser in such a manner, let alone someone who previously endorsed them, that is just plainly weird! Lough Lannagh Holiday Village, which once boasted a strong reputation, has clearly lost its way. The charm and care they once embodied seem to have faded, replaced by the arrogance and poor customer service of the people tasked with looking after it. It's hard to ignore the fact that this holiday park, once celebrated on television, now seems to have let fame go to its head.
Finally, the holiday village maybe still a great place to visit, I will never know, but it takes so much more than being a great place to visit for you to spend your hard earned money. The staff have to be as genuine as the place itself, this starts from the top down. For these reasons, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. If Lough Lannagh Holiday Village can’t be bothered to treat those endorsing them with respect, I can’t imagine how they’ll treat you.
