Review

Killua Castle in, originally built in 1780, has been magnificently restored by Allen and Lorena Krause. Once home to T.E. Lawrence, aka Lawrence of Arabia, the castle now stands as a splendid example of 21st-century restoration, blending historical charm with modern luxury. Unlike many restorations that attempt to recreate the past, the Krauses have breathed new life into the structure, making it a modern-day marvel. Their passion for history and the castle itself is evident in every detail, arguably surpassing its original grandeur. Tours and stays must be booked in advance, as Killua Castle remains very much a family home. For those fortunate enough to visit, it promises an unforgettable experience. Guests can admire the family's extensive collection of furniture and artifacts, accumulated over three decades. In my years of documenting top attractions, Killua Castle stands out as a truly regal restoration, epitomizing the fusion of past elegance with contemporary comfort.

Fifty50 in Kells has quickly become a go-to spot for locals and visitors exploring Co. Meath. Just like its Navan & Ashbourne counterparts, the kitchen here turns out inventive plates inspired by sunshine flavours, from zingy openers to satisfying plates that feel like pure indulgence.

The Happy Cup Cafe

The Happy Cup Cafe in the quaint town of Oldcastle, Co. Cavan, is an absolute delight. Owners Laura and Gintaras have spent years perfecting what they do, and in their new, larger premises you can really see it shine. With their wings finally unclipped, they now bake all their own breads,

Fifty50’s restaurant here in Navan brings serious dining credentials to Co. Meath without ever losing the run of itself. Just like its Dublin counterpart, it offers an eclectic mix of tasty Mediterranean and European dishes, beautifully presented but never pretentious. The menu is affordable,
