Review

Portadown is a town steeped in history, once central to Northern Ireland’s linen industry and birthplace of one of my peers, Gloria Hunniford. However, another reason to visit is Joe Mac’s Bar & Restaurant. For over 20 years, Eustace McCabe, whose roots lie in farming, has built an enviable reputation for serving honest food in wonderfully welcoming surroundings. Having spent time with Eustace, his pride in this establishment is unmistakable, particularly now that his son Dillon is taking the reins. Their commitment to hospitality has even inspired a renovated upstairs restaurant, further enhancing this popular destination. Expect generous portions, quality ingredients, sensible prices and Irish hospitality. There is something refreshing about a family business that continues to invest in its future without losing the warmth and character that made it successful. For anyone travelling through County Armagh, Joe Mac’s is an absolute must. This family certainly knows how to deliver!
