Gentle Jane Tea Room
Gentle Jane tearoom is located in the centre of Grosmont next to the shop and post office, and just along from the Angel pub. Both the church and castle lie within 150 metres. Popular local walks include the ‘The Three Castles walk', with other shorter routes available. In modern times the village has been lightly touched by the media; John Craven, Dan Snow and Richard Hammond have all made programs here recently, plus ‘The Baker' film, was based in Grosmont.
In 2011 The Times voted the village as one of the
12 best places to live in the country.
We hope that you will enjoy the friendly atmosphere of Gentle Jane, a beautifully restored building in the centre of Grosmont village. Light lunches, cakes and drinks are all freshly prepared to order, and where possible, ingredients are fresh, seasonal and locally sourced. There is a large range of loose-leaf teas, and our excellent coffee is roasted by a local supplier, before being freshly ground in Gentle Jane. Cakes and baked goods, always an important element in a tea shop, are all freshly baked on the premises, with a wide, changing selection. Locally produced delicious ice creams and cold drinks are also available. Savoury food includes freshly-prepared soups, filled ciabatta rolls with salad garnish, plus Welsh cheese ploughman's platter and smoked fish pâté with warm pitta bread (freshly made to order).
