Fernhill House Hotel & Gardens
Review
Fernhill House & Gardens is far more than an award-winning hotel, it’s a polished West Cork escape that feels quietly extraordinary from the moment you arrive. Although I’m endorsing Fernhill for my special Romantic Destinations book, this is genuinely a place for everyone, couples, families, and solo travellers who simply want to switch off in style. Set within a handsome Georgian mansion, the bedrooms are exquisite, with luxury as standard and the sort of thoughtful finishing touches that make you slow down and savour the stay. What I loved most is that Fernhill isn’t just family owned, it’s family run, you’ll often spot a member of the O’Neill family moving through the house, hands-on and proudly present. For an intimate Irish wedding, the setting is effortlessly elegant. Dining here is a highlight too, shaped by the legacy of Michael J O’Neill back in the 1940’s and still upheld beautifully today.
