Here’s my honest take, based on first-hand dealings with Ella Mor Outdoor Adventures in Co. Londonderry.

On the surface, the website suggests a straightforward, community-minded operator. I even travelled to a farm high on the Binevenagh Mountains to meet owner Heather Nicholl at her father and step mothers homestead, for what should have been a routine editorial meeting: origins, vision, safety ethos, the usual. We both agreed at that meeting, that I would include Ella Mor Outdoor Adventures across my book, website and app and as such, Heather agreed to the modest design fee to cover artwork. We then created and sent that artwork, which got completely ignored, which I found totally strange, as I thought we’d had an amazing meeting, where we shared stories about losing both our mothers and the heartbreaking journey we’ve both been on. From there, the experience derailed: repeated calls and emails about the agreed fee and outstanding artwork went unanswered; then came a text message so discourteous I won’t reprint it. When challenged, Ms. Nicholl disputed ever meeting or agreeing to be featured, before citing personal circumstances for the silence.

Trust and reliability are non-negotiable in any outdoor activity business. My interactions with Miss Nicholl eroded both. The contrast between the brand’s website promise of soulful, welcoming experiences and the reality I encountered was stark, less “ignite your soul,” more head-scratching disbelief. On the strength of my experience, I cannot recommend Ella Mor Outdoor Adventures at all. Give this one a wide berth and book with a provider whose professionalism is as sturdy as the mountains they operate on.
