Eden Camp (Modern History Theme Museum)
Review
Eden camp is housed in the buildings and on the grounds of a WW ll Prisoner of War Camp, and has been lovingly resurrected into a remarkable, interactive museum. This enormous exhibit (set in various buildings walking you through military and social history) offers you the chance to experience first-hand what life on the Home Front was like; all made very real by the sights, sounds and smells around you. There are displays which bring to life the hardships and challenges of WW l, WW ll and post WW ll conflicts, and unsurprisingly, this visionary rendering of history has received multiple awards for making history relevant and accessible. Youngsters can celebrate birthday parties here, making use of the two-part assault course styled play areas and the escape tunnel. There is a wartime canteen on site to enjoy a hearty meal, and also indoor and outdoor areas to enjoy your own picnic. An informative, worthwhile visit for the whole family.
