Just a few miles from the heritage town of Kenmare, Dromquinna Stables remains one of Kerry’s truly special and well respected equestrian experiences. Having endorsed this wonderful family-run centre once before, my return visit only confirmed why it deserves its place again. Originally opened in 1949 by Michael’s mum, it is now proudly carried forward by Michael and Xenia, along with their children also playing their part in keeping this much-loved tradition alive for future generations. Their passion for horses, people and the Kerry landscape shines through in every ride. Treks lead guests into the beautiful Kerry hills, where views stretch towards Carrauntoohil, Ireland’s highest mountain, and across the surrounding Reeks. For something equally memorable, their beach rides along the local bay offer a wonderfully Irish sense of freedom. Whether you are experienced in the saddle or a complete beginner, Dromquinna Stables welcomes everyone with warmth and confidence. Highly recommended!
